2-day Workshop for Young Researchers in Social Sciences

EPF/CRRC and ICMPD invite you to a 2-day workshop within the framework of the EU-funded MOBILAZE project.

Do you have a social phenomenon you want to investigate but you are not sure how? Would you like to
learn how research can be used to help understand migration patterns in Azerbaijan and the wider region?
Do you want to know about the tools you can use for empirical research to explore other areas? 
EPF/CRRC and ICMPD invite you to a 2-day workshop within the framework of the EU-funded MOBILAZE project.

30 successful applicants will be invited to attend, where international migration experts and experienced researchers Roland Hosner and Dr Michaella Vanore will deliver a 2-day workshop from 30-31 March 2017.

The sessions will be interactive and will cover both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore a range of research questions, as well as a session designed to help you apply these methods to the issue of
migration specifically.

Successful applicants should:

  • be current Masters students or graduates with Masters degrees.
  • have limited experience to date in Research Methods for Social Sciences.
  • have fluent English (all sessions will be delivered in English)
  • be between the ages of 21 and 35.
  • be available to attend both full days of the workshop.
  • be highly motivated to use the skills they learn in their own research projects and studies.

 

Applications are welcome through the online formThe deadline for applications is 5 March 2017.
Certificates will be awarded to those who successfully complete both full days.

About the trainers:

Roland Hosner is a graduate in Sociology from the University of Vienna and is involved in the research components of the MOBILAZE project, supporting migration management in Azerbaijan. He has significant experience in quantitative tools including research design and integration statistics. See Roland’s bio.

Dr Michaella Varone is a research fellow at the Maastricht Graduate School of Governace, where she has spent 6 years researching and teaching on migration and development. She has worked on projects addressing poverty among migrant children, the impact of migration on children and the elderly, diaspora
engagement, remittances and conflict and post-conflict settings. See Michaella’s bio.
