Economic Analysis of Immigration in Post-Soviet Countries

Public Lecture: Economic Analysis of Immigration in Post-Soviet Countries-Ina Ganguli. ENG.

Overview: Ms. Ina Ganguli’s talk will be about current issues in immigration and she will discuss some key theoretical and methodological approaches to the economic analysis of immigration.  She will briefly discuss her research projects on migration after the end of the Soviet Union relating to "brain drain" and the scientific labor force, migration from Tajikistan to Russia, and her preliminary research on migration issues in Azerbaijan.

Lecturer Bio: Ina Ganguli is currently an IREX EPS Fellow in Azerbaijan.  She is a PhD Candidate in Public Policy and a Doctoral Fellow at the Center for International Development at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is also a Graduate Student Affiliate of the Institute for Quantitative Social Science and the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University. Her research interests include labor economics and international development, with a focus on immigration, education, innovation, and gender issues.  She was previously an Embassy Policy Specialist in Tajikistan, a Fulbright Scholar in Ukraine and an International Parliamentary Program Fellow in Germany.  Ganguli holds a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences from Northwestern University.

Language: The lecture will be conducted in English. Questions can be delivered in Azerbaijani, English and Russian.
