Public Health – Policy, Economics, Research

CRRC-Azerbaijan held a series of workshops on Public Health - Policy, Economics, Research delivered by Dr. Narmin Efendiyeva (Master of Public health, Institute of Tropical medicine in Antwerp, Belgium).

The opening day of the workshop was on October 10th - on Public Health Policy, following second session - Introduction to Health Economics - was held on October 17th and the closing date - Research in Public Health - was on October 24th.

The presentation series were based on gathered course study materials on healthcare management and policy; and personal internet-based search of literature of international health agencies and independent scientific journals.

The presenter focused on main aspects of policy making - contents, context, actors and processes, discussed its agenda, formulation, implementation and how different actors impacted on its further effect. The presentation on “Health Economics” was about cost-analysis - three main economic ways of studying the quality of health interventions and their outcomes. The lecture reflected cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, and cost utility analysis of healthcare in world practice.

Lecture on “Research in healthcare” was about main research types and methods, used in healthcare research and observations.

The workshop listeners were provided with various examples of studies conducted in different countries.

A feedback we recently got from one of the workshop attendees:

“Dear Colleagues!
I’d like to once more thank you for organizing the workshop on Public Health!
I wish the data presented to us would be organized in a form of trainings for the people working in the area related to Public Health in order to make them more qualified and, thus, support and develop Public Health in Azerbaijan.”
